The world’s first anti-typhoon floating offshore wind turbine and my country’s first floating offshore wind power platform jointly form the "Three Gorges Leader" with a single unit capacity of 5.5 MW. Independent research and development by domestic fan manufacturers.

Floating offshore wind power technology is expected by the industry as "the main technology for the development of far-reaching offshore wind power in the future", and has been explored in many countries and regions. Compared with traditional wind turbines fixed on the offshore seabed, floating turbines can realize the vision of deployment in far-reaching seas. While acquiring stable and high-quality wind power resources in far-reaching seas, they will not affect nearshore fishery and other related industrial activities.

There are frequent typhoon activities in the South my country Sea. The "Three Gorges Pioneer" is designed according to the extreme wind, wave and current conditions once in 50 years, and can withstand up to 17 typhoons, making new contributions to the exploration of anti-typhoon technologies for my country’s offshore wind power and the development of deeper waters. .

Chasing the waves and the deep sea is not an easy task. Global floating offshore wind power generally faces difficulties in technology, cost, and low maturity of the industrial chain. Relying on the relevant scientific research projects of the country and Guangdong Province, the relevant companies of the Three Gorges Energy Joint Industry Chain have successively overcome the conditions of frequent typhoons, complex sea conditions, and harsh waves, such as anti-typhoon wind turbines, semi-submersible foundations and mooring systems, ballast control, and dynamics. The key technologies of floating offshore wind power, such as cable development, "fan + platform" integrated towing and in-place installation, are all domestic independent core technologies.

During the period, the project team optimized the organization and management of project construction, locked various ship and machine resources in advance, kept a close eye on the meteorological and sea state observations of the construction window, strictly controlled all key links of the implementation plan, and ensured the safety of construction, transportation, construction, installation and commissioning Done successfully.

"Accelerating the centralized and contiguous large-scale development of offshore wind power" is an important historical mission given to the reform and development of the Three Gorges Group by the Party Central Committee and the State Council.
